Neag School of Education - Collaborative Technology Center
Collaborative Learning Lab (Room 037)
Due to ongoing renovations of the Gentry Building, this lab is currently closed. Lab facilities are expected to re-open in Spring 2010.
The CTC Collaborative Learning Lab is designed around the collaborative learning model of one computer to few students. Each pod has a resident machine with a specific function as well as common software. Ample room for two to three students with outlets for power is also provided. This room seats approximately 18 students. The premise behind the design is to bring a small group of students together for an activity around a central point while allowing each student to also work independently. Examples of the technologies showcased in each pod are:
- Assistive Technology
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- MIDI
- Web Authoring (Dreamweaver)
- Multimedia Authoring
The Collaborative Learning Lab is also equipped with an interactive whiteboard. Interactive whiteboards provide students and instructors with an innovative way of capturing information and knowledge for later use and discussion. Instructors or students can present material from the instructor station via a laptop, VCR/DVD player, or the HuskyVision cable system.
