HANS HERCULE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Description of Award:
This scholarship was established in memory of Hans Carson Hercule,
a student in the athletic training program in the Department of
Kinesiology at the Neag School of Education and is awarded annually
to honor a second year upper-division undergraduate Athletic Training
Student for determination, dedication, desire, professionalism,
academic achievement and overall excellence as an athletic training
student. The Athletic Training Student who best exemplifies the
extraordinary attributes in academics and clinical rotations and
fits the specific criteria is awarded the Hans Hercule Memorial
Scholarship.

Award Parameters:
- Final semester Athletic Training Student graduating in May of
the final semester (December graduates considered the three months
following graduation)
- Appropriate Grade Point Average in Upper Division (Major) Athletic
Training courses as outlined by the athletic training student
plan of study (upper division: 3.2)
- Appropriate overall Grade Point Average (cumulative: 3.0)
- Characteristics of an outstanding Athletic Training Student
(i.e. personable and professional demeanor in the athletic training
rooms and classrooms; an overall astuteness in academics and clinical
rotations; a profound interest in the well-being of the educators,
colleagues, classmates, and athletes; and a notable interest and
passion to pursue athletic training as a means of livelihood)
- Portrayal of clinical excellence and performance (i.e. interpersonal
skills, inquisitiveness, professionalism, desire, and dedication
to the advancement of one’s own career as a student and
Certified Athletic Trainer)
