History
The Nayden Rehabilitation Clinic is collaboration between the University of Connecticut's Neag School of Education,
Program in Physical Therapy and Windham Community Memorial Hospital. The current clinic was opened in April of 2003,
having moved from its original office location in Koons Hall on the Storrs campus of the University of Connecticut. The
Nayden Clinic was made possible by the generous donation of Mr. Dennis Nayden and Mrs. Britta Nayden, and was named in
honor of Mrs. Nayden. The donation enabled the renovation of the former Fleet Bank office on 14 Dog Lane converting
the building into a 2,000 sq ft. rehabilitation clinic. Our clients include university students, faculty, staff and people from the
community at large.
The clinic is designed to become the cornerstone for educating and developing the skills of future Doctors of Physical
Therapy (DPT). The clinic is structured to provide real time integration of didactic knowledge and laboratory learned
psychomotor skills in an operational rehabilitation clinic. Physical therapy students, during their first, second and
third years, work directly with our clinical faculty to utilize and expand upon skills learned in laboratory and throughout
their didactic preparation.
