The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a committee each Div. I school has. UCONN's SAAC is advised by athletic administrator, Bill Shults who is head of compliance.  The purpose of SAAC is to "enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image." UCONN's SAAC has played a significant roll with community service.   In the spring of 2005 SAAC was awarded with the Organization Community Service Award which "annually honors a student organization that has initiated and/or actively engaged in community service projects. This award is intended for those engaged in activities that offer direct service to a community external to the University." Husky Sport actively works with SAAC to recruit its members for Husky Sport events and projects.
