Justin is second-year doctoral student in the sport management and sociology program. He joins the department after completing both his masters degree (sport management) and his undergraduate degree (sociology) at the University of Connecticut. At present, one of Justin’s main focuses for research concentrates on the issues surrounding students and student-athletes as they transition from a high school to a university environmental setting. He also is looking into the varying levels of exposure to athletic opportunities across socio-economic backgrounds, contrasting levels of area income tax, and race to resident demographic breakdowns.
Justin is now working in his fourth year as a graduate assistant coach for the men’s basketball team at the University of Connecticut, under the tutelage of Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun. Before that, as a player, Justin was a member of the 2004 NCAA men’s national championship team. During his time with UCONN Basketball, Justin has worked with various professional athletes, including eight NBA players drafted within the last 3 years.
