Neag School of Education Department of Kinesiology

Husky Sport - Staff

Erin is a second-year doctoral student in the Sport Management and Sociology program in the department of Kinesiology at the University of Connecticut.  She received a bachelor’s of science degree in Nutrition and Fitness from the University of Missouri (2004) where she was also a four-year member of the cross country and track teams.  In December of 2005 she earned her MBA in Sport Management from Seton Hall University.  At Seton Hall, Erin served as the project manager for the design and implementation of the Sharkey Polling Center, the nation's first university-based ongoing polling service to focus exclusively on sports issues.

Under the direction of Dr. Laura Burton at UConn, Erin is involved in research exploring the influences of sport participation on women’s abilities to succeed in business and sport management.  Her own research interests are focused on childhood obesity prevention.  She is involved in PawPALS, a specific before-school physical activity intervention program geared toward overweight children at risk for obesity.  She also serves as the liaison between Husky Sport and Husky Nutrition, working to help improve health awareness and access to inner-city Hartford youth.
