Catholic Worker House

The Catholic Worker House is located on Clark Street in the North End of Hartford and has established after-school, Saturday, and summer programs for neighborhood youth. Husky Sport is involved with the Catholic Worker House primarily on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

On Saturdays, the UConn students are involved in playing a variety of sports, as well as helping with homework and/or participating in arts and crafts activities. Husky Sport also provides assistance in meal planning for the lunch that is served to the kids each Saturday and has aided in the institution of a breakfast option, nutrition demonstrations, and fresh fruit and vegetable food tastings.

In the spring of 2009, Husky Sport worked with the staff and volunteers at the Catholic Worker House to institute a series of workshops for the teenagers at the house focusing on college preparation.
