Two Neag School professors are co-editors of the new Journal of Advanced Academics (JAA), formerly the Journal of Secondary Gifted Education.

Sharing the responsibilities are: Del Siegle, an associate professor in the gifted education program and a principal investigator for the Neag Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, and D. Betsy McCoach, an assistant professor in the measurement evaluation and assessment program and serves as the quantitative methodologist and evaluator on several major research studies led by her Neag colleagues.

The new journal is geared for scholars, administrators and policy-makers. Its’ focus is research that supports and enhances advanced academic achievement for students of all ages and programs that prepare students for high-level academics. Articles may include:

  • Reports on original research
  • Project descriptions and evaluations
  • Syntheses of the literature
  • Program assessments, and
  • Theoretical or conceptual positions that relate to programs that increase academic achievement or prepare students for advanced academic opportunities.

JAA will be published by Prufrock Press Inc., of Waco, Texas. Prufrock publishes a wide range of resources for gifted and advanced learners including a children’s magazine, activity books, and materials for both teachers and parents.
