Welcome to the Department of Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy is a profession concerned with the restoration of function and the prevention of disability
accompanying disease, injury, or loss of a body part.
One of the oldest physical therapy programs in the United States, the Physical Therapy program at the University of Connecticut
(established 1952) has one of the largest alumni at the University. The Physical Therapy department now offers a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Please see the program link to get information about the program and the admissions deadlines.
Graduates may practice in a wide range of settings including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities,
public and private schools, private offices, homes, sports medicine centers, and industry. With advanced
degrees, physical therapists practice as researchers and educators in college and university settings.
