Measurement, Evaluation, and Assessment
Graduate Certificate in Program Evaluation
Internship in Program Evaluation
The Measurement, Evaluation, and Assessment (MEA) program in Educational Psychology at the University of
Connecticut has developed an evaluation internship program, where advanced measurement and evaluation students
are placed within schools, community-based organizations, or other settings in Connecticut to enhance the quality
of in-house evaluations and provide technical assistance to organizations in evaluation and measurement. This effort
has grown out of the need for and interest in these experiences by both students (for professional experience and
growth) and local schools and organizations (for enhancing the quality of their evaluations and consequently their
programs).
The graduate level internships will be in the area of evaluation of programs and/or services. Placement is most
beneficial to the organization and the students after at least one year of study in the MEA program. Preparatory
courses for the intern emphasize research methods (qualitative and quantitative), applied statistics, evaluation
theory and practice, and learning or behavioral theories. Some of these may be taken concurrently with an internship
during the second or third year of graduate study.
