Educational Technology
Sixth-Year Certificate
The Two-Summers program offers an option to receive a 30 credit, Sixth-Year certificate rather than a Master's of Arts Degree in Educational Technology. To apply for the Sixth-Year one must
already have a Master's in a related area. However, if the Master's Degree is from the University of Connecticut, one cannot receive 2 Master's Degrees in Education from the University specifically, including the
Sixth-Year certificate, so the area of concentration must be reviewed for eligibility.
The Two-Summers program addresses issues of technology associated with reading and writing in elementary grades as well as the wise integration of technology
in middle and high school. The program covers topics such as e-portfolios, web resources, technology for professional development of teachers, multimedia “new” literacies, and
issues of assistive technology across the K-12 spectrum.
Our 30 credit Sixth-Year certificate program is run with equivalent content to our Two-Summers Master's degree, but instead of resulting in a degree, it results in the Sixth-Year certificate
(something rather unique to Connecticut education).
