Neag School of Education Department of Kinesiology

Department of Kinesiology Admissions Guidelines

1) The faculty of the Department of Kinesiology admit only the most qualified applicants.  The number of applicants admitted into a concentration may vary, but only 10-15 students will be admitted into most concentrations.

2) The successful applicant shall have completed most of the suggested courses listed for the first three semesters of the desired concentration.  It is anticipated that the applicant will have satisfactorily completed PNB264 and PNB 265 (where required), or their equivalents, before the semester of admission.
*Please note a C or better is required for admission and graduation.  A student may be admitted not having met this requirement (ex. Grade for PNB 264 or 265 may not be known at time of application decision), but is required to have earned a C or better in both PNB 264 and 265 to meet graduation requirements.*

3) The successful applicant shall have demonstrated an interest in the desired concentration, having completed task-related activities (either paid or volunteer positions).  Note: Applicants for Athletic Training will be required to complete 100 hours of observation (acquired as part of the class requirement for EKIN 161/62).

4) The applicant must provide two letters of recommendation from individuals who are aware of his/her professional interests and related work experiences.

5) The successful applicant must have a grade point average that is competitive with other students applying during the same semester for the desired concentration.  All applicants must have at least a 2.2 Total Grade Point Average to be considered for admission to the Department of Kinesiology.

6) The Department of Kinesiology strongly encourages minority applicants, and will vigorously recruit such applicants.
