Purpose and Objectives of Programs in
Educational Administration

Primary Purpose

    • to produce graduates who possess the cognitive,
      affective and performance skills which will enable them
      to obtain and perform in a variety of educational
      leadership roles;
    • to work with school districts, state departments of
      education, other educational agencies, and business and
      industry to address educational issues and problems;
    • to produce knowledge about the specialization
      of educational administration.

Student Objectives

    • be reflective and self-actualizing educators;
    • develop a well-defined philosophy of education;
    • understand the concepts basic to ethical behavior;
    • demonstrate an understanding of differing
      value systems;
    • demonstrate an ability to interpret research;
    • demonstrate an ability to design research and to
      implement that research;
    • demonstrate an ability to analyze problems;
    • demonstrate an understanding of and an ability to apply
      the basic concepts of organizational behavior;
    • demonstrate an understanding and an ability to apply
      managerial skills, e.g., planning, budgeting, evaluating.

The instructional objectives are designed not only to meet the personal needs of students, but also to enable them to assume leadership positions in educational organizations. Toward that end the faculty of the Educational Administration Program assign a high priority in assisting students to attain their career objectives.
