The Ed.D. Program in Educational Leadership
A recent revision to the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership was announced. UConn has been selected to participate in a Carnegie Foundation project to develop a "doctorate of practice" for educational leaders. The program will commence with the Fall 2007 cohort of students.
This program is based on research within the Executive Leadership Program and at the NSoE. The focus of the program is places emphasis on developing candidates' abilities to employ an analogical (or case-based) reasoning process as they weave together theoretical formulations, results of empirical research, and facts from real-life situations into a comprehensive analysis of educational case situations. Recent participants in the Executive Leadership Program will recognize this strategy and concept as that used with case-based learning and the integration of the practicum and coursework.
The next Ed.D. in Educational Leadership cohort will begin in Fall 2009. The deadline for applications is February 1, 2009.
