Neag School of Education Department of Curriculum and Instruction Bilingual-Multicultural Education

Bilingual - Multicultural Education

Current edition of the Bilingual Focus newsletter

Programs

There are three advanced programs offered in Bilingual-Multicultural Education within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. These include the Master of Arts degree, the Sixth Year Diploma in Professional Education, and the Doctor of Philosophy. Coursework at the master's level prepares candidates for cross-endorsement* in TESOL and/or Bilingual Education.

Major advisors work closely with the Bilingual Advisory Committee and with each student to design an appropriate program of study meeting the student's program and degree needs. All programs are interdisciplinary and competency-based. In general, each plan of study includes courses in: Curriculum and Instruction, Bilingual-Multicultural Education, English as a Second Language, Language Development and Linguistics, and field experiences in bilingual education as appropriate.
