Endowed Faculty
Dr. Donald J. Leu, Jr.
John and Maria Neag Chair in Literacy and Technology
A national search for the Neag School of Education's endowed chair in literacy and technology led to a nationally prominent specialist in reading and Internet technologies. Professor Donald Leu, who had been an education professor at Syracuse University, was hired and given joint appointments in the departments of curriculum and instruction and educational psychology.
During the past several years Dr. Leu has completed a number of federally funded research grants from the Department of Education and the National Science Foundation. These include the CTELL project , a major research initiative on teacher education, as well as other research projects exploring the use of the Internet for teaching and learning and projects developing classroom-centered design principles for multimedia software. He is particularly proud of his team of doctoral students, and together they have established the Center for New Literacies.
